“At last my day of victory has come,” he laughed to himself. “I will finally be able to revel myself, and bring death and destruction, and no one can stop me!” He laughed to himself. It was thirty minutes past midnight, soon, oh so very soon, all will begin to end.
“Worried?” Sonic asked.
“Yeah,” Tails answered.
“Yeah, I am too,” Sonic admitted. “This time I know what will happen if we fail, it’s kinda scary.”
“Sonic, we’ve got this, we’ve save the world plenty of time, never failing, and we aren’t going to start now,” Tails encouraged.
“Tails that was ten years ago, as much as I hate to admit it, I’m not fifteen anymore, though I may act like it.”
“You’re not forty either, twenty-five is still in your prime, plus your Sonic the Hedgehog, Hero of Mobius, leader of Team Sonic.”
“Hehe, thanks bro,” Sonic smiled. “Amies would have given me a bitter bitter-er speech.”
“Yeah,” Tails laughed. “She was really great.”
“She was,” Sonic answered, playing with his ring again.
“Have you been to Cream’s house lately?” Tails asked.
“Nah, probably, when this is over, I’ll pay them a visit, why?” Sonic asked.
“No reason, Cream and I are friends, that’s all,” he shrugged.
“Well, I’m gonna hit the hay… or should I say the wall,” he joked leaning his back against the wall, closing his eyes. “Night Tails.”
He knocked on her door. “Come in!”
“Winter, I need to tell you something,” he began.
“What is it kid?” She asked, standing up.
“I, I saw you…”
“Yeah, and I saw you to, we’re living in the same apartment,” she said.
“No, while I was out, I saw you.” She looked him in the eyes. “I was somewhere dark, and you were there too…but something was different…you…you looked wild. You seemed to be fighting something, but there was nothing there…. You had this look in your eyes, the look a wild, heartless beast. You were on the ground…screaming and yelling…. And…and then it was over….” He finished.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” she said uneasily. “You should get some sleep; we’re going to be very busy tomorrow.”
He stood there for a while, outside her down. He wondered what this vison meant. “Hey, kid, go to sleep, we need everyone at their best for tomorrow.”
He turned. “You don’t have to answer this, but do you know anything about her past?” He asked, pointed at Winter’s door.
The black hedgehog looked long and hard at him. “She was captured and experimented on by Doctor Eggman, to be the Ultimate Living Weapon.” He turned away, no longer facing him. “It’s something she doesn’t like to talk about, I don’t blame her, nothing good came from it.”
“You did,” he stated plainly.
“Wh-what?” He stammered, obviously startled by his saying.
“You two might have never met if she wasn’t experiment on,” he elaborated. The black hedgehog turned away again, but DJ could see the small smile on his face.
“Go to sleep,” he ordered. DJ took his place on the floor, a drifted to sleep.
“Winter…” the albino hedgehog turned to face the purple cat. “I want to thank you, for all you are doing. I know that you don’t have many friends, and in that, we are alike, I know you have nothing to lose, but still thank you, I know that you and G.U.N don’t have a pretty past.”
“No need, saving the world and having you as a…friend…is thanks enough,” she replied. “And you and I might have more friends than we think.”
“Yes, perhaps,” Blaze smiled. The two heard a commotion in the kitchen.
“What’s wrong?” They asked.
“I donno, he just fell to the ground,” Power said frantically.
“DJ? DJ? DJ, can you hear me?!” Winter asked.
“Silver, Shadow!” Blaze called.
“What’s wrong with him?” Shadow asked.
“I don’t know,” Winter replied.
“You’ve gotta help him, he’s…he’s all I got,” Power whispered.
“DJ?” Winter called again. “I can hear his heart beating,” she informed. “It’s like he’s in a comma.” She looked at Power. “Could this have something to do with his powers?”
“He gets really bad headaches sometimes, but nothing like this,” he answered.
“What if its due to a rip in time or dimensional barriers?” Shadow suggested. Everyone looked at him. “I was created by Professor Gerald, the smartest man ever, I learned a few things,” he shrugged. “Since he can see into the future, that could mean he has a mental connection to the time space continuum, so if the fabrics of time or space are messed with-time travel or dimension crossing, he would feel the stress.”
“Chaos,” Power whispered. “So you’re saying they could be getting the Sol Emeralds at this very second?”
Everyone froze. “Oh my Chaos, he’s right!” Blaze cried.
“No, not yet,” DJ moaned.
“For the love of Mobius,” Power exclaimed, hugging DJ, “don’t ever do that again!”
“We need to get ready, they’re going to cross to Blaze’s dimension in the morning,” he finished.
“You know I’m still testing these things, right?” Tails stammered.
“C’mon, you’re always testing everything, you’re too careful, they’ll work,” Sonic said, ruffling his three little hairs. He exhaled, controlling his prototype buddy-bot.
“At the next cross-section turn to the left,” Omega directed. “Walk for four yards than turn right, the elevator should be-”
“Right in front of you,” Knuckles said, pointing at the screen. The buddy-bot walked up the wall and pushed the button call the elevator. “Careful, you don’t want to get caught.”
Ding. The shaft doors opened, and the buddy-bot jumped into the elevator. It was empty. Buddy-bot looked at the number pad. “Shoot!” Rogue exclaimed. “Looks like biometrics scanners.”
“Just wait till someone else gets in,” Knuckles suggested.
“Yeah sure, Knucklehead, someone is going to randomly-” Topaz was interrupted when a man in a lab coat entered the elevator.
“You were saying, Topaz,” Knuckles sang.
“Ok, ok, sorry Knuxs,” Topaz grumbled.
Sonic smiled to himself, messing with the gold ring on his finger. He remembered when Amy and Knuckles used to fight all the time. He missed her a lot, but he knew she’d want him to be happy.
Once the elevator doors opened the sir walked out, the buddy-bot was hidden in the pocket of his lab coat.
“Where are we with The Bridge, Towers is losing it,” he asked everyone else in the room.
“He’s already lost it,” one began. “It will be ready tomorrow; be we’ll have to pull another all-nighter.”
“Surprise, surprise,” another mumbled. “We should get payed more.”
“We’re getting payed?!” Yet another asked sarcastically. “Where’d you hear that lie, we aren’t getting payed a penny!”
“Why is he even doing this? When was the last time an Overpowered attacked?” A female engineer asked.
“Never!” Her friend replied, caring a small metal tank. “Little help.” She grabbed the other side. “Thanks. Also, Shadow worked for them, not once did he ever do anything to indicate he would betray them, and now they’re hunting him, like that monster, Project Chaos.”
“It’s funny how he could never find it, and when he did, it always got away, and now he thinks he can wipe out an entire group of people!” She laughed.
“Does he even know how hard it was to find the Seven Chaos Emeralds, without altering anyone, especially Team Dark, who are specialized in finding these things!” The first scientist said.
“Not at mention a way to contain the used energy so no one will find out,” the female engineer replied.
“All of this is ludicrous!” The scientist that had just existed the elevator exclaimed.
“Dang straight, Marco!” The male engineer agreed.
“What about you Polo, still waiting for that pay check?”
“Look John… why do you have to nickname me Polo?” He asked.
“Because we call your brother here, Marco, c’mon, what else should we call you-plus, you call me Edward.”
“Ehhh, good point, Polo’s fine…better than Edward,” he snickered.
“Yo, Peach, got work to do!” The male engineer called.
“C’mon Ant, take a brake we have all night to finish,” Marco said.
“No, nonononononononononononononono! NNNNNNOOO!” Mario exclaimed.
“What’s up, Peach isn’t being kidnapped, chill, Mario,” Edward joked.
“No! NO! The weapon is leaking!” He exclaimed. “High amounts of Chaos Energy are being released!”
“For the love of Mobius, Ant, let’s go!” Peach called running towards machines at the far end of the huge room.
“We gotta tell Shadow,” Sonic said.
“Whatever you’re going to do, you gotta fast, by tomorrow morning they’ll be ready,” Rogue said to Shadow through a communicator.
“Understood, you guys ready for this, I can’t promise things won’t go wrong,” Shadow warned.
“When can anyone ever make that promise?” Rouge answered.
“Well that was close,” Silver stated.
“Too close,” Winter answered. “G.U.N. has smarter people than I thought.”
“So what do we do now?” DJ asked.
“You can see into the future, you tell us,” Shadow shot.
“I told you, it doesn’t work that way!” He answered.
“How does it work then?”
“I don’t know, it just happens,” he replied.
“C’mon, give the kid a brake Shadow,” Winter said, giving him a look.
“We’ll all have a long one if we fail!” He growled.
“Who says we’re going to fail?!” Silver asked. “I didn’t travel from the future to the past to hear the same thing, ‘it’s no use,’ or ‘if we fail,’ we’re not going to fail, c’mon guys, the world needs us, even if it doesn’t know it.”
“Silver’s right,” Power said.
“We can do this!” DJ and Blaze encouraged.
“As much as I hate to agree, your right,” Shadow stated.
“Told you you could start a revolution,” Winter whispered. Silver smiled. He even made himself feel confident, it was a new feeling, for once in his life he was sure of himself.
“Alright then, let’s save the world,” Silver said triumphantly. Golden light filled the room, the sun was setting, tomorrow was Thursday, they needed to get ready for what was coming.
Sonic and company where on their way to Meh Burger to grab a bit to eat. Everyone in the village was acting stranger than usual. “What’s going on here?” Sonic asked.
“Haven’t you heard?” Dave asked.
“Obviously not, or I wouldn’t be asking,” Sonic answered, annoyed.
“And you can’t answer a question with a question,” Tails put in.
“Winter the Hedgehog is coming to the Island!!” He nearly screamed.
“Yes! Winter the Hedgehog! …Who is that again?” Knuckles exclaimed.
“Oh Knuckles, Winter the Hedgehog is a famous skateboarder,” Amy explained.
“Why would a skateboarded come to this place, it’s counter-productive?!” Knuckles asked.
“Knuckles a place can’t be counter-productive,” Tails groaned.
“Who cares why she’s coming to this horrible place, with nothing to do, and she probably leave two hours later…SHE’S COMING!!!!!!” Dave cheered.
“Alright, suddenly I’m not hungry anymore,” Sonic stated.
“Yeah, we need to get ready for her robot overlord army, and for the fact she’s a snob,” Sticks yelled.
“Sticks there is no robot overlord army, but you’re right about her being a snob,” Amy answered.
“What’s a snob?” Knuckles asked.
“You’ll find out when she gets here.”
“Aren’t you guys being a little hasty here?” Tails began. “I mean she doesn’t have to fit the stereotype.”
“We aren’t judging; we’re just preparing ourselves for what’s coming,” Sonic shrugged. “Didn’t you all learn your lesson from Swifty?”
“He was an Eggman robot!” Tails exclaimed.
“Based off a skateboarder,” Sonic said raising his arms, and voice.
“Really, you’re basing someone off of one of Eggman’s robots?!” Tails asked.
“Yes,” everyone but Knuckles yelled. Tails sighed.
“Hey guys,” Mayor Fink called.
“What?!” They all yelled.
He flinched before replaying, “She’s here, she coming right now!”
“Great,” Amy mumbled.
“Well don’t just stand there, c’mon, I want her to meet our Island’s greatest-and only-heroes!” He ordered shoving them along.
“I’m finally going to see what a skateboard is,” Knuckles said, happily.
They arrived at the edge of the village, where people where leaving with autographs. “Can I have your autograph?”
“Miss Winter the Hedgehog,” Mayor Fink began, again.
“Please Mr. Mayor, just Winter,” the albino hedgehog insisted.
“Yes, of course, Winter, I would like you to meet Sonic and his friends, Tails, Amy, Sticks, and Knuckles, they are the heroes I was talking about before.”
“Hi, nice to meet you guys,” she waved.
“Is it really, or are we too low class for you,” Amy shot.
“Ummm, no……I mean yes, it is really nice to meet you all,” she stumbled.
“Excuse me, but wants a snub?” Knuckles asked.
“Oh, a snob is a person with an exaggerated respect for high social position or wealth who seeks to associate with social superiors and dislikes people or activities regarded as lower-class,” she answered.
“Thanks!” He turned to face the others. “What’d you call her a snob, she seems pretty nice.”
“Knuckles, cork-it!” Amy hissed.
They all turned to face their guest. She was looking around.
“Are you looking for a fancy hotel, sorry for bursting your bubble there isn’t one,” Amy said cruelly.
“No, this Island, it’s beautiful,” she smiled.
“You really think so?” Mayor Fink asked, not hiding his excitement.
“It’s one of the most beautiful place I’ve ever been,” she sighed. “I’m so happy to be living here.”
“LIVING HERE?!” They all exclaimed.
“Yes, did I not tell you?” The Mayor asked. “Also, you guys are going to show her around.”
Knuckles rushed over and took her hand. “I would love to show you around.”
“Well, ok, what’s first Knuckles?” She asked, walking with him.
The tour only lasted for about two minutes, there wasn’t much to show. Knuckles enjoyed himself. “I have another question…”
“What is it?” She asked giving him a smile.
“Where’s you skateboard?”
“Oh shoot I left it back there, I’ll be right back,” she exclaimed, running off…as fast as Sonic.
“What, she’s as fast as me?” Sonic asked, shocked. “No one’s as fast as me.”
She was back in a flash, literally, she sighed, brushing her three front quills away for her face. “Got it,” she sighed, holding it out for them to see.
“Why are their diamonds on it?” Knuckles pointed.
“Haha, because I put them there, I like them,” she answered, getting on the board beginning to ride it.
“Show off,” Sonic hissed.
Soon a crowd had gathered and started cheering. She did a few jumps and kick flips, and even rode upside-down!
“You have to admit, she is really good,” Tails said.
“If she’s good I’m the fastest thing alive,” Sonic answered.
“You where amazing!” Knuckles complemented.
“Glad you think so,” she answered.
“So…Winter…where are you going to stay tonight?” Amy asked.
“Oh, I’ll make do,” she said, nervously. “Thanks for showing me around guys.”
“No problem,” they all shrugged.
“Where are they?!” Sticks screamed.
“Who’s they?” Winter asked.
“Your robot overlord army, I know who you are, you can’t fool me,” she growled.
“Ummmmm, there is no such thing as a robot overlord army,” she answered.
“Or is that what you want us to think,” she accused.
“Ignore her, she’s paranoid, you’ll get used to it,” Tails stated sheepishly.
“Winter, you simply must stay with me in my manor tonight,” Mayor Fink offered.
“Thanks you kindly, but I much rather stay in the great outdoors,” Winter answered.
“Nonsense, you are a celebrity, and I insist,” he persisted.
“Ok,” she sighed.
“See ya,” she waved as the Mayor dragged her along.
“She’s pretty nice, right guys,” Tails said.
“Ehh,” Sonic shrugged.
“She’s tricking you, no, she’s mind controlling you, you’re becoming another member of her mindless army!” Sticks panicked.
“I don’t see why you guys hate her so much, especially you Tails,” Knuckles began.
“ME?! What?!” Tails exclaimed.
“If you actually got to know her, you’d like her,” he finished.
“And I’m Eggman sister,” Amy answered.
“I always knew you were,” Sticks hissed.
“No Sticks, I’m not Eggman’s sister,” Amy groaned.
“Then why’d you say you where?” Knuckles asked.
In the morning.
“Mornin’ guys!” Winter called. She sat at the table with them. “So what do you guys do for fun around here?”
“Oh, I don’t know if you’re up for what we do,” Amy began, sounding bored, “we shoot each other out of cannons and throw each other at coconut trees.”
“Why wouldn’t I be up to those things?” She asked, placing her hands on her hips.
“You’re going to get dirty, or hurt,” she continued.
“What’s life without a little adventure?” Winter replied.
“I like how you think,” Sonic smiled.
“You know, I could give you a lecture on skateboard safety,” Amy yelled the last part.
“No thanks, Amy, I’m good,” Winter replied, smiling weakly.
“Really, then why aren’t you wearing a helmet, elbow pads, or knee pads?” She asked, smiling smugly.
“Cause…I don’t have too,” she answered, nervous.
“Oh, so you think you’re above the law?!” Amy shot. Gasps from nearby villagers filled the air, as they all gathered round to listen.
“NO!” Winter yelled. “I don’t think I’m above anything!”
“Amy calm down,” Sonic said, pulling her away.
Winter ran off, two sonic booms filling the air. Everyone was quiet for a very awkward amount of time.
“What just happened here?” Dave asked. All the villagers shrugged.
“Do you think she’s coming back?” Knuckles asked.
“Sure, to kill Amy maybe, and I wouldn’t blame her,” Sonic stated. The villagers gasped dramatically. “Oh come on, I didn’t mean it that way.”
“You have to get her back!” Mayor Fink ordered.
“She’s sending radio signals to her robot overlord army, telling them to come and destroy the entire island, connecting us all to a computer system to be their power source!” Sticks yelled. Everyone just stared at her. “Stop looking at me like that, I’m not crazy.” She looked behind her to see her shadow. “Stop following me!”
“C’mon guys, we gotta find her, this short story is getting kinda long,” Sonic called running off.
“Sonic, this island only has four locations,” Tails yelled after him.
“I know that, which is why I should be able to find her in no time,” he called, again, running off, again.
“I’m not a snub am I a snub why does she think I’m a snob…I really shouldn’t be talking to myself.” She was running, alone, not knowing where she was going, how could she, she was new to the island.
“Winter, Winter, where are you?!” She heard Sonic calling. She run up to him. “Hey, I was supposed to find you, not you find me.” She didn’t answer him. “Look, I’m sorry about Amy, she’s really a nice gal…when she wants to be.” He chuckled slightly.
“Yeah, I’m not worried, by the end of this short story, we’re going to be good friends,” Winter shrugged.
“Good pointed,” Sonic said. “Wanna race back to the village?”
“Let’s go,” she grinned.
Few seconds later, back at the village.
“I won!” Sonic cheered.
“Sure, whatever makes you feel good slow-poke,” Winter laughed.
“Oh thank heavens,” Mayor Fink sighed. “Are you alright, Mis- Winter?”
“I’m fine, I can handle myself,” she answered.
“Winter… I’m sorry for judging you the way I did,” Amy apologized.
“No problem,” she replied.
“You know, it’ll be nice to have another girl around, evens it out,” she said, looking at the guys.
“Yeah, it’ll be nice to have a friend that’s a girl, instead of only guys,” Winter smiled.
“You poor thing,” Amy gasped, “surrounded by guys twenty-four seven!?”
“Hey!” The boys exclaimed.
“Ehh, they’re not that bad,” Winter defended. “Though, they can be pretty messy.”
“Ya don’t say, did they ever ruin your couch then blow up your entire house to cover it up?” Amy growled looking at Sonic and Knuckles.
“Noooooooooooooo…” Winter said, looking confused and surprised.
“So whatdoya say, Winter, ready to join mine, I mean our team?” Sonic invited.
“Oh, I have my own team,” she said, a little nervous. “They should be here in a couple days.”
“Her army, they’re coming!” Sticks screamed, running off.
“OOOOOOOOOOkkk, if she had stuck around I could have told her that they are my very best friends, who are normal hedgehogs.”
“Ugggg, more hedgehogs?!” Knuckles groaned.
