“At last my day of victory has come,” he laughed to himself. “I will finally be able to revel myself, and bring death and destruction, and no one can stop me!” He laughed to himself. It was thirty minutes past midnight, soon, oh so very soon, all will begin to end.
“Worried?” Sonic asked.
“Yeah,” Tails answered.
“Yeah, I am too,” Sonic admitted. “This time I know what will happen if we fail, it’s kinda scary.”
“Sonic, we’ve got this, we’ve save the world plenty of time, never failing, and we aren’t going to start now,” Tails encouraged.
“Tails that was ten years ago, as much as I hate to admit it, I’m not fifteen anymore, though I may act like it.”
“You’re not forty either, twenty-five is still in your prime, plus your Sonic the Hedgehog, Hero of Mobius, leader of Team Sonic.”
“Hehe, thanks bro,” Sonic smiled. “Amies would have given me a bitter bitter-er speech.”
“Yeah,” Tails laughed. “She was really great.”
“She was,” Sonic answered, playing with his ring again.
“Have you been to Cream’s house lately?” Tails asked.
“Nah, probably, when this is over, I’ll pay them a visit, why?” Sonic asked.
“No reason, Cream and I are friends, that’s all,” he shrugged.
“Well, I’m gonna hit the hay… or should I say the wall,” he joked leaning his back against the wall, closing his eyes. “Night Tails.”
He knocked on her door. “Come in!”
“Winter, I need to tell you something,” he began.
“What is it kid?” She asked, standing up.
“I, I saw you…”
“Yeah, and I saw you to, we’re living in the same apartment,” she said.
“No, while I was out, I saw you.” She looked him in the eyes. “I was somewhere dark, and you were there too…but something was different…you…you looked wild. You seemed to be fighting something, but there was nothing there…. You had this look in your eyes, the look a wild, heartless beast. You were on the ground…screaming and yelling…. And…and then it was over….” He finished.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” she said uneasily. “You should get some sleep; we’re going to be very busy tomorrow.”
He stood there for a while, outside her down. He wondered what this vison meant. “Hey, kid, go to sleep, we need everyone at their best for tomorrow.”
He turned. “You don’t have to answer this, but do you know anything about her past?” He asked, pointed at Winter’s door.
The black hedgehog looked long and hard at him. “She was captured and experimented on by Doctor Eggman, to be the Ultimate Living Weapon.” He turned away, no longer facing him. “It’s something she doesn’t like to talk about, I don’t blame her, nothing good came from it.”
“You did,” he stated plainly.
“Wh-what?” He stammered, obviously startled by his saying.
“You two might have never met if she wasn’t experiment on,” he elaborated. The black hedgehog turned away again, but DJ could see the small smile on his face.
“Go to sleep,” he ordered. DJ took his place on the floor, a drifted to sleep.
“Winter…” the albino hedgehog turned to face the purple cat. “I want to thank you, for all you are doing. I know that you don’t have many friends, and in that, we are alike, I know you have nothing to lose, but still thank you, I know that you and G.U.N don’t have a pretty past.”
“No need, saving the world and having you as a…friend…is thanks enough,” she replied. “And you and I might have more friends than we think.”
“Yes, perhaps,” Blaze smiled. The two heard a commotion in the kitchen.
“What’s wrong?” They asked.
“I donno, he just fell to the ground,” Power said frantically.
“DJ? DJ? DJ, can you hear me?!” Winter asked.
“Silver, Shadow!” Blaze called.
“What’s wrong with him?” Shadow asked.
“I don’t know,” Winter replied.
“You’ve gotta help him, he’s…he’s all I got,” Power whispered.
“DJ?” Winter called again. “I can hear his heart beating,” she informed. “It’s like he’s in a comma.” She looked at Power. “Could this have something to do with his powers?”
“He gets really bad headaches sometimes, but nothing like this,” he answered.
“What if its due to a rip in time or dimensional barriers?” Shadow suggested. Everyone looked at him. “I was created by Professor Gerald, the smartest man ever, I learned a few things,” he shrugged. “Since he can see into the future, that could mean he has a mental connection to the time space continuum, so if the fabrics of time or space are messed with-time travel or dimension crossing, he would feel the stress.”
“Chaos,” Power whispered. “So you’re saying they could be getting the Sol Emeralds at this very second?”
Everyone froze. “Oh my Chaos, he’s right!” Blaze cried.
“No, not yet,” DJ moaned.
“For the love of Mobius,” Power exclaimed, hugging DJ, “don’t ever do that again!”
“We need to get ready, they’re going to cross to Blaze’s dimension in the morning,” he finished.
“You know I’m still testing these things, right?” Tails stammered.
“C’mon, you’re always testing everything, you’re too careful, they’ll work,” Sonic said, ruffling his three little hairs. He exhaled, controlling his prototype buddy-bot.
“At the next cross-section turn to the left,” Omega directed. “Walk for four yards than turn right, the elevator should be-”
“Right in front of you,” Knuckles said, pointing at the screen. The buddy-bot walked up the wall and pushed the button call the elevator. “Careful, you don’t want to get caught.”
Ding. The shaft doors opened, and the buddy-bot jumped into the elevator. It was empty. Buddy-bot looked at the number pad. “Shoot!” Rogue exclaimed. “Looks like biometrics scanners.”
“Just wait till someone else gets in,” Knuckles suggested.
“Yeah sure, Knucklehead, someone is going to randomly-” Topaz was interrupted when a man in a lab coat entered the elevator.
“You were saying, Topaz,” Knuckles sang.
“Ok, ok, sorry Knuxs,” Topaz grumbled.
Sonic smiled to himself, messing with the gold ring on his finger. He remembered when Amy and Knuckles used to fight all the time. He missed her a lot, but he knew she’d want him to be happy.
Once the elevator doors opened the sir walked out, the buddy-bot was hidden in the pocket of his lab coat.
“Where are we with The Bridge, Towers is losing it,” he asked everyone else in the room.
“He’s already lost it,” one began. “It will be ready tomorrow; be we’ll have to pull another all-nighter.”
“Surprise, surprise,” another mumbled. “We should get payed more.”
“We’re getting payed?!” Yet another asked sarcastically. “Where’d you hear that lie, we aren’t getting payed a penny!”
“Why is he even doing this? When was the last time an Overpowered attacked?” A female engineer asked.
“Never!” Her friend replied, caring a small metal tank. “Little help.” She grabbed the other side. “Thanks. Also, Shadow worked for them, not once did he ever do anything to indicate he would betray them, and now they’re hunting him, like that monster, Project Chaos.”
“It’s funny how he could never find it, and when he did, it always got away, and now he thinks he can wipe out an entire group of people!” She laughed.
“Does he even know how hard it was to find the Seven Chaos Emeralds, without altering anyone, especially Team Dark, who are specialized in finding these things!” The first scientist said.
“Not at mention a way to contain the used energy so no one will find out,” the female engineer replied.
“All of this is ludicrous!” The scientist that had just existed the elevator exclaimed.
“Dang straight, Marco!” The male engineer agreed.
“What about you Polo, still waiting for that pay check?”
“Look John… why do you have to nickname me Polo?” He asked.
“Because we call your brother here, Marco, c’mon, what else should we call you-plus, you call me Edward.”
“Ehhh, good point, Polo’s fine…better than Edward,” he snickered.
“Yo, Peach, got work to do!” The male engineer called.
“C’mon Ant, take a brake we have all night to finish,” Marco said.
“No, nonononononononononononononono! NNNNNNOOO!” Mario exclaimed.
“What’s up, Peach isn’t being kidnapped, chill, Mario,” Edward joked.
“No! NO! The weapon is leaking!” He exclaimed. “High amounts of Chaos Energy are being released!”
“For the love of Mobius, Ant, let’s go!” Peach called running towards machines at the far end of the huge room.
“We gotta tell Shadow,” Sonic said.
“Whatever you’re going to do, you gotta fast, by tomorrow morning they’ll be ready,” Rogue said to Shadow through a communicator.
“Understood, you guys ready for this, I can’t promise things won’t go wrong,” Shadow warned.
“When can anyone ever make that promise?” Rouge answered.
“Well that was close,” Silver stated.
“Too close,” Winter answered. “G.U.N. has smarter people than I thought.”
“So what do we do now?” DJ asked.
“You can see into the future, you tell us,” Shadow shot.
“I told you, it doesn’t work that way!” He answered.
“How does it work then?”
“I don’t know, it just happens,” he replied.
“C’mon, give the kid a brake Shadow,” Winter said, giving him a look.
“We’ll all have a long one if we fail!” He growled.
“Who says we’re going to fail?!” Silver asked. “I didn’t travel from the future to the past to hear the same thing, ‘it’s no use,’ or ‘if we fail,’ we’re not going to fail, c’mon guys, the world needs us, even if it doesn’t know it.”
“Silver’s right,” Power said.
“We can do this!” DJ and Blaze encouraged.
“As much as I hate to agree, your right,” Shadow stated.
“Told you you could start a revolution,” Winter whispered. Silver smiled. He even made himself feel confident, it was a new feeling, for once in his life he was sure of himself.
“Alright then, let’s save the world,” Silver said triumphantly. Golden light filled the room, the sun was setting, tomorrow was Thursday, they needed to get ready for what was coming.
